NEED

The Digby is intended to satisfy the needs of its guests and patrons as well as the public through its hospitality experiences.

The Digby will not only contain guest rooms, but three different restaurant experiences: one in the basement, one on the ground level, and one on the rooftop. This will all happen within the exciting context of Ellis Square. The top floor/rooftop bar is meant to provide patrons with a vibrant locale to enjoy a unique dining experience through a blurring of interior and exterior spaces.

From Ellis Square, pedestrians will experience a five-story building on East Bryan Street, adding to the considerable variety of forms without over-powering the existing mass and scale of the Decker Ward. Arriving on the sixth floor from the elevator, a patron makes a choice; to observe the vibrant and nonstop activity of Ellis Square or to appreciate a subdued and more private experience on the lane side with views of the Savannah River.

The traditional punched openings and bay spacings are reminiscent of the contributing buildings in the area, however, the corner curtain wall glazing brings prominence to the façade facing the square and provides a contemporary interpretation for glazing.

The Digby should not only satisfy the needs of its guests but provide a sense of place that is sensitive to the historic context of Savannah.
